We ask each other antagonistically “Who gets to say what reality is?” then argue, feud, censure, or condemn each other to be the one who does.
But competing over “who” (which particular person or people) can dictate “what reality is” (the epistemic basis of being) risks the insanity whereby individual or group ignorance, not knowing what reality is; delusion, misinterpreting what reality is; and lying, misrepresenting what reality is; could easily lead to no one knowing what reality is — a serious existential disqualifier for a species endowed with and dependent upon reality-knowing.
Instead of who, were we simply to ask “What gets to say what reality is?” the answer is simple, obvious, and irrefutable: Reality says what reality is.
Reality grasped is the only cure for ignorance, delusion, and lying. At our very best we use our minds to ask reality what it is, then pay attention to the answer. Could we all do this more consistently, sharing the best replies with each other, “who” becomes all of us, ever more mutually, truthfully, and opportunely reality-savvy.
